New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A red alert has been issued across Delhi-NCR following heavy rains that caused waterlogging, traffic snarls, and flight disruptions on Wednesday and Thursday. As per reports, six flights were diverted—four to Jaipur and two to Lucknow—while several others faced delays or rerouting due to deteriorating weather conditions.

In Gurugram, the situation turned particularly severe as 103 mm of rain fell within just 90 minutes on Wednesday evening, reaching 133 mm within 12 hours. Flood-like conditions led to submerged roads, stranded vehicles, and waist-deep water in several areas. The district administration has issued an advisory urging corporate offices and private firms to allow employees to work from home until conditions improve.

Heavy rains have also triggered crisis in other states. In Madhya Pradesh, districts like Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar are experiencing flood conditions. In Narsinghpur, three children lost their lives after being swept away in a swollen river.

Meanwhile, in Haryana’s Kaithal district, three children drowned while bathing in a pond. In Nagpur, Maharashtra, continuous downpours have cut off 71 villages from district headquarters. One 35-year-old man was swept away in a stream, while an 18-year-old youth died in Uppalwadi. Authorities have ordered all schools in Nagpur to remain shut till July 9.
