Domestic Dispute Turns Fatal: Gurugram Man Strangles Wife, Ends Own Life
Gurugram (The Uttam Hindu): In a chilling incident from Cyber City Gurugram, a 30-year-old software engineer strangled his wife to death after a heated quarrel and later hanged himself. Police revealed details of the tragedy on Monday, confirming that the accused, Ajay Kumar, had sent a video message to his friend minutes before taking his own life.
According to officials, Ajay, originally from Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), and his wife Sweety Sharma (28), from Asansol (West Bengal), were both employed at an IT company in Gurugram. The couple had been married for three years.
On Sunday around 3:15 pm, Ajay allegedly recorded a disturbing video, informing his friend about his plan to end his life. The friend immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the couple’s apartment in Sector-37. When police broke open the locked door, they discovered Sweety’s body lying on the floor with a dupatta tied around her neck, suggesting strangulation. Ajay’s body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the same room.
Investigators believe that Ajay first killed his wife during an argument and then committed suicide. However, the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear. The police have sent both bodies for postmortem and registered a case after Sweety’s family accused Ajay of murder.
Authorities have begun a deeper probe into the couple’s marital life, workplace stress, and possible mental health issues that might have triggered the fatal chain of events.
This tragic incident has once again sparked debates about domestic disputes, emotional well-being, and the rising cases of family violence among working professionals in urban India.
