Election Commission's Big Move: Increases Honorarium for BLOs and Officers

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Amidst the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar, the Election Commission of India on Saturday decided to increase the remuneration of booth level officers. A notification has also been issued by the Election Commission in this regard. In which the Commission informed about its decision.

According to the notification, the booth level officer used to get an amount of 6 thousand rupees, which has now been increased to 12 thousand rupees. The incentive amount given to the booth level officers involved in the revision of the voter list has been increased from one thousand rupees to two thousand rupees. At the same time, the booth level supervisor used to get 12 thousand rupees, which has now been increased to 18 thousand rupees. The remuneration of the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer is now 25 thousand rupees, while the remuneration of the Electoral Registration Officer has been increased to 30 thousand rupees.

At the same time, the Election Commission also underlined the important role of the officers involved in the process of voter list revision. The Commission said that the voter list is the foundation of any democratic system, which is prepared jointly by the officers of our Commission. Keeping this in mind, we have decided to increase their remuneration.

The Election Commission said in its notification that earlier such amendment in the remuneration given to the officers was made in 2015. Apart from this, this is the first time that it has been decided to give honorarium to Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and Electoral Registration Officer.

The central government says that many citizens of Bangladesh and Nepal have obtained Indian citizenship with the help of fake documents and are taking advantage here.
