Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The Supreme Court has granted major relief to Elvish Yadav by quashing criminal proceedings against him in the alleged snake venom case. The court noted that the complaint suffered from procedural flaws and was not legally sustainable, while allowing authorities the option to file a fresh complaint under the Wildlife Protection Act.

A bench of Justices M.M. Sundaresh and N. Kotiswar Singh observed that the manner in which the complaint was filed was flawed, making it untenable in law. While setting aside the case, the court clarified that it would not examine other issues at this stage but permitted authorities to initiate a fresh investigation if required.

The court also pointed out the lack of concrete evidence to support the allegations. The case dates back to November 2023, when Noida Police accused Elvish Yadav and others of allegedly using snake venom at a party. He was later arrested in March 2024. The allegations had sparked controversy, including claims related to wildlife harm and questions over his earnings, which were later addressed by his family.
