Explosion at explosives factory in Nagpur leaves 15 dead, several injured

Nagpur (The Uttam Hindu): A major accident took place on Sunday in Nagpur district of Maharashtra when a powerful explosion at an explosives manufacturing unit claimed at least 15 lives and left several others seriously injured. The blast occurred in Katol tehsil, causing panic in the surrounding area as emergency teams rushed to the spot.


According to preliminary information, the explosion took place at the Raulgaon facility of SBL Energy Limited, a company involved in mining and industrial explosives. The incident reportedly occurred between 7:00 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. in the detonator packing section of the factory, where workers were present at the time of the blast.


Police officials said the injured were quickly shifted to hospitals in Nagpur for treatment. Authorities confirmed that 15 people lost their lives while several others sustained serious injuries. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, and the company is expected to release a detailed statement after the situation is fully assessed.
