Barnala (The Uttam Hindu): Amid fears that the Iran, US-Israel war will affect the supply of petrol, diesel and cooking gas cylinders, a scramble for cylinders has begun. Long queues have started forming outside gas agencies in many parts of the country. A tragic incident has come to light in Barnala's village Shehna where an elderly man died of a heart attack while standing in a queue to get a gas cylinder. A wave of mourning spread in the entire area after the incident. Bhushan Kumar Mittal (66) was 25th in line. He stood in the queue for two hours and then suddenly collapsed.
Meanwhile, in Amritsar, a clash broke out this morning at a gas agency in Islamabad between a manager and customer Manoj over a cylinder. An elderly woman broke down in tears after not receiving a cylinder. Meanwhile, the central government maintains that supplies are completely normal. The government has held meetings with the Chief Secretaries and Director Generals of Police (DGPs) of states and union territories, urging them to prevent hoarding and black marketing.
