Goa nightclub blaze turns deadly; 25 people lose their lives
Panaji (The Uttam Hindu): A massive fire broke out in a night club in Arpora, Goa on Saturday night, killing 25 people. After this tragic incident, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the spot and ordered an investigation into the matter. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed grief over the accident by posting on the social media platform X. He said that today is a very sad day for all of us in Goa. I am deeply saddened and express my deepest condolences to all the affected families in this hour of unbearable loss. The Chief Minister ordered strict action against those responsible for this incident.
The CM said that an investigation will be conducted to determine whether fire safety regulations and building codes were followed. Those found guilty will face the strictest possible action under the law. Any negligence will be dealt with strictly. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that Prime Minister Modi spoke with him about the tragic fire incident in Arpora and that he briefed the Prime Minister on the ground situation. The Goa government is providing all possible assistance to the affected families during this difficult time.
Several Union ministers have also expressed grief over the Goa tragedy. Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Twitter, "The loss of life due to the fire in Arpora, Goa is deeply saddening. The local administration is carrying out rescue and relief work and providing necessary care to those affected. My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured."
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote, "Deeply saddened by the deaths caused by the fire in Arpora, Goa. My condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon."
