Gruesome crime: man kills wife and two daughters, buries bodies in pit and covers it with brick flooring
Shamli (The Uttam Hindu): A horrifying crime has come to light from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, where a man brutally murdered his wife and two young daughters following a domestic dispute. The accused buried the bodies in a nearly nine-foot-deep pit dug in the courtyard for a toilet and covered it with soil and brick flooring to avoid suspicion. Acting on a tip from the woman’s father-in-law, police detained the accused. During strict interrogation, the shocking crime was revealed.
The incident took place in Garhi Daulat village under Kandhla police station limits. The accused, Farooq, worked as a cook at wedding functions and lived separately from his parents due to long-standing family disputes. He lived with his wife Tahira (32) and their five children. The children include daughters Afreen (14), Aasmeen (10), Sahreen (7), and sons Bilal (9) and Arshad (5).
According to information, Tahira and her two daughters Afreen and Sahreen had been missing for the past six to seven days. When Farooq’s father, Daud, questioned him about their whereabouts, he claimed that his wife and daughters were living in a rented house in Shamli. Unsatisfied with his explanation, Daud informed the police on Tuesday evening and expressed suspicion that his son had killed them. Police took Farooq into custody and questioned him, during which he confessed to the crime.
Shamli Superintendent of Police NP Singh said the accused revealed that on the night of December 10, around midnight, he had an argument with his wife. During the altercation, he shot Tahira in the kitchen. Hearing the gunshot, the elder daughter Afreen rushed in and was also shot. When the younger daughter Sahreen arrived, he strangled her to death.
During interrogation, Farooq admitted that he was extremely angry with his wife for not wearing a burqa. He said that about a month earlier, she had gone to her parental home in Muzaffarnagar without covering herself, which he considered an insult to his honour. Fearing exposure after killing his wife, he murdered the two daughters as well.
After committing the murders, Farooq buried all three bodies in the deep pit in the courtyard and laid brick flooring over it. On his disclosure, police dug up the pit and recovered the bodies. Senior officials, including the SP and CO Kairana, along with heavy police force, were present at the scene.
Farooq’s mother, Asgari, told police that six days earlier, all the children had slept in the same room at night. In the morning, Tahira and the two daughters were missing. No information about them was received for several days. She also revealed that three days ago, Farooq had burnt his wife’s clothes, which the children informed her about, raising suspicion within the family.
Police said the accused was deeply disturbed over his wife’s refusal to wear a burqa. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and a murder case has been registered against Farooq. Further legal proceedings are underway.
