Dehradun (The Uttam Hindu): Rain continues to wreak havoc in the hilly states of Himachal and Uttarakhand. Reports of landslides are coming in due to rain. Due to continuous heavy rains in Kedarnath, the road was once again blocked due to falling of stones and large boulders from the hill near Munkatiya. Due to this, 40 to 50 pilgrims were trapped near the sliding zone, after which they were safely evacuated by rescue.

Due to the closure of the road, the pilgrims coming to visit Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib are facing huge problems. It may take some time for the road to open. The local administration and NDRF teams have started clearing the road, but the intermittent rain is increasing the challenges. In view of the heavy rains in Uttarakhand, the Chardham Yatra has been temporarily stopped.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the journey will be started only when the travel route is completely safe for the devotees. A landslide occurred near Sonprayag on the Kedarnath route in Uttarakhand on Wednesday night and the road was closed. During this, 40 devotees got trapped. The SSR team reached the spot and evacuated everyone safely.
