Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): Suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir is preparing to lay the foundation stone for a new Babri Masjid in Ranzi Nagar, Murshidabad. Kabir has announced that a formal foundation-laying ceremony will take place at the site. A petition seeking a stay on the event was dismissed by the Calcutta High Court, which stated that maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the state government.

The event will be held in a village about 500 meters from the main location, where security arrangements have already begun. To ensure order, security personnel are being deployed near the Beldanga Police Station. Mohammad Safikul Islam from North Barasat was seen carrying bricks on his head toward the venue. He said he wants to contribute to the construction of the Babri Masjid, adding, “I will go where Humayun Kabir lays the foundation. I am taking these bricks for the mosque.”

Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has appealed to citizens to maintain peace and avoid provocative statements or rumors. According to a post shared on social media platform X by Raj Bhavan, the Governor has instructed the state government to take all necessary steps to prevent any disturbance and ensure law and order. He has also ordered the creation of a 24×7 “Access Point Cell” at Raj Bhavan, to be headed by retired IAS officer S.K. Patnaik.

The post added that people can inform the Access Point Cell via phone or email about any untoward incident, threats, or inflammatory remarks. The Governor will closely monitor the situation and expressed confidence that the state government will take all required measures to maintain peace.
