Deadly Explosion at Telangana Chemical Factory: 10 Workers Killed, Rescue Ops Ongoing

Hyderabad (The Uttam Hindu): A massive explosion has occurred in an industrial unit located in Pasumailaram, Hyderabad, in which ten workers are reported dead and 20 others are injured. The accident took place at around 9 am in a chemical factory located in the industrial area of ​​Sangareddy district.

The explosion caused a massive fire at the Sigachi Chemicals premises. After receiving information about the incident, 11 fire engines have reached the spot, which are trying to control the fire in the chemical factory. Police, fire services and other workers started rescue and relief work. Ambulances are also present at the spot to take the injured to hospitals.

The injured have been admitted to government and private hospitals. The condition of some of the injured is said to be critical. Ten workers are reported to have died on the spot, while one injured worker died in the hospital. However, the authorities have not yet confirmed the deaths.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was so powerful that the workers were thrown into the air and fell several meters away. The factory unit collapsed due to the impact of the explosion and the fire spread to the nearby building. Many workers were working near the reactor at the time of the explosion. Migrant workers from Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and other states worked in the factory.

The blast and fire caused panic among the workers in the chemical unit and nearby factories, following which they fled out of the premises. Meanwhile, rescue workers are using earthmovers to clear the debris. It is feared that some workers may be trapped under the rubble. Sangareddy District Collector P. Praveenya and Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj also reached the spot and are monitoring the rescue and relief operations.

Employees of various industrial units and staff from various departments also joined the rescue operation. More details are awaited as the operation is ongoing.
