New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Army's strength is set to increase exponentially. To defeat the enemy, Israeli weapons company Israel Weapons Industries (IWI) has delivered the first batch of its most lethal light machine guns (LMGs) to India. This historic defense deal is being completed through technology transfer under the "Make in India" initiative. Last weekend, the first batch of 2,000 Negev 7.62×51 light machine guns arrived in India. Significantly, these state-of-the-art weapons were delivered through PLR Systems, a joint venture between Israel Weapons Industries and India's Adani Group. It has become the first private company in India to manufacture small arms and ammunition.

This 'Brahmastra' is capable of piercing walls and strong bunkers

Israel's Negev 7.62×51 is considered one of the world's lightest and most lethal light machine guns, used by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Its light weight and 7.62mm ammunition make it so lethal that it can easily penetrate enemy walls and concrete bunkers in the blink of an eye. It is considered infallible for urban warfare and critical missions. This gun can fire in both semi-automatic and fully automatic modes. It can be easily fitted not only in hand-held weapons but also on Indian Army armored vehicles, Air Force helicopters, and naval platforms. It utilizes cutting-edge technology such as Picatinny rails and tritium night sights for accurate aiming in low light or darkness.

There is a mega order for 41 thousand weapons

India has placed a large order with Israel for a total of 41,000 units to modernize its military. After receiving 2,000 machine guns in the first shipment, 4,000 more will be delivered to India by the end of this year. Built to NATO standards, these guns are highly durable and capable of operating in any demanding conditions. The most significant feature is that these machine guns can be easily integrated with computerized weapon systems, which will help the army achieve 100% accuracy in targeting enemies on the battlefield.

1.70 lakh carbines will be available soon

This cooperation in the defense sector between India and Israel continues to reach new heights. In addition to light machine guns, PLR Systems, a joint venture between the Adani Group and an Israeli company, has also secured a significant contract to supply 170,000 Close Quarter Battle (CQB) carbines. Delivery of the first 18,000 units under this major deal will be completed this year. This is set to be a game-changing step towards thwarting every nefarious plot of the enemy and equipping the Indian Army with the world's most advanced small arms.
