“You’re Not Fit to Fly, Go Stitch Shoes”: Staff Member Faces Casteist Abuse, Police Probe On

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A case has been registered against 3 people including the captain of Indigo Airlines in Gurugram, Haryana. According to the information, this FIR has been lodged by the trainee pilot. The trainee pilot has accused 3 people including the captain of the flight of harassing him on the basis of caste. He was told that he is not fit to fly a plane, he should go and stitch shoes.

The victim alleges that he was humiliated in front of everyone in a meeting. The victim said that casteist remarks were made on him several times during duty. He was humiliated in front of everyone by mentioning his caste. Warning letters were also given several times without fault. Even salary was cut without any valid reason and medical leave was also cut. Not only this, but staff travel was cancelled and pressure was put on him to resign. Tapas Dey, Manish Sahni and Captain Rahul Patil have been accused of casteist remarks. Earlier, he also complained about this to the CEO and Ethics Committee of IndiGo, but no action was taken. Seniors said that he is not fit to fly planes and should make shoes. At present, the airline IndiGo has not commented on this matter.

The victim employee complained about the incident to the police in Bengaluru. After which the Karnataka police filed a zero FIR and sent it to Gurugram. At present, action is being taken by the police regarding this matter.
