Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary receives death threat via phone call, security beefed up

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary has received a death threat. Jayant Chaudhary received a call from an unknown number. The accused threatened to shoot him. The person making the threat is reportedly from Murshidabad, West Bengal. Security at Jayant Chaudhary's residence has been increased, and the Delhi Police is investigating the matter.

Vishvendra Shah, personal assistant to Union Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary, told news agency IANS, "Two days ago, Minister Jayant Chaudhary left for Parliament from his residence. After reaching Parliament, he received a phone call. Three to four calls were made continuously. Once the phone was picked up, the person on the other end directly threatened to shoot him. He asked whether he had seen the photo sent or not. After the call was disconnected, when I looked at the photo on WhatsApp, it contained a schedule of Minister Jayant Chaudhary's official visits. Along with that schedule, a photo sent on WhatsApp also directly mentioned shooting."

He explained, "Whenever a minister visits a district, there's a complete schedule for it. It's only sent to the district officials, but the person who made the threat had that schedule. He had the schedule for Minister Jayant Chaudhary's Agra event."

Jayant Chaudhary's personal assistant, Vishvendra Shah, said that a complaint has been filed with the Delhi Police regarding the matter. The police are investigating. The accused's location has been traced to Murshidabad, West Bengal. This means that the threatening call originated from Murshidabad, Bengal.
