JDU cracks down: MLA Gopal Mandal and 15 others ousted over anti-party activities ahead of Bihar polls

Patna (The Uttam Hindu): As the Bihar Assembly elections approach, the Janata Dal (United) continues to crack down on rebellion. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the party has taken major action against undisciplined leaders, releasing a list of expulsions for the second consecutive day.

Five leaders expelled on Sunday

On Sunday, the JDU expelled five leaders, including MLA Gopal Mandal, former MLA Maheshwar Yadav, and former MLC Sanjeev Shyam Singh, from the party with immediate effect after they were found to be involved in anti-party activities. The party leadership stated that these leaders were acting against organizational decisions and breaking discipline in an election environment.

The axe fell on Saturday as well - 11 leaders expelled

A day before this, on Saturday, JDU had expelled 11 leaders from the party. These included four former MLAs and two former Legislative Councilors. Prominent among the expelled leaders are former minister Shailesh Kumar, former Legislative Councilor Sanjay Prasad, former MLA Shyam Bahadur Singh, former Legislative Councilor Ranvijay Singh, former MLA Sudarshan Kumar, Amar Kumar Singh, former candidate from Mahua Asma Parveen, Luv Kumar, Asha Suman, Divyanshu Bhardwaj and Vivek Shukla. In this way, JDU has shown the way out to a total of 16 leaders in two days.

Discipline is the priority – JDU's message:

According to party sources, the top leadership has clearly indicated that factionalism or indiscipline of any kind will not be tolerated during the election season. All district presidents and candidates have been strictly instructed to immediately report anyone making statements against the organization to party headquarters.
