JK Rajya Sabha Election Result: National Conference Wins Three Seats, BJP Secures One

Srinagar (The Uttam Hindu): Voting for four Rajya Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir took place on Friday. The National Conference (NC) fielded four candidates, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested three seats. The election results have now been declared the NC has won three of the four seats, while the BJP secured one.

NC leaders Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan, Shammi Oberoi, and Sajjad Kichloo have been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir. Senior NC leader Chaudhary Mohammad Ramzan won by a margin of 58 votes. Sajjad Kichloo secured the second seat for the NC, and Shammi Oberoi clinched the third.

On the fourth seat, BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir President Sat Sharma emerged victorious with 32 votes, defeating NC’s Imran Nissar, who received 22 votes.

Following the results, NC workers celebrated the party’s three-seat victory with enthusiasm and joy.

It is noteworthy that the Congress, which has six MLAs, had declared its support for the NC. Congress State President Tariq Hameed Karra had earlier withdrawn from the contest after not receiving the desired seat. Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which has three MLAs, had also extended its support to the NC.
