Rudraprayag/Dehradun (Uttam Hindu News): The pilgrimage to Baba Kedarnath Dham, the 11th Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, which was disrupted for several days due to heavy rains and landslides in Uttarakhand, has been resumed once again on Saturday. However, due to the travel route not being completely fine, now the devotees will have to travel more on foot than before to have the darshan of Baba.

Rudraprayag Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarvesh Singh Panwar informed that the main road between Sonprayag and Gaurikund has been made pedestrian-friendly. After the road was made operational, today the first group of pilgrims from Sonprayag was sent to Kedarnath Dham via Gaurikund.

SP Panwar clarified that the route between Sonprayag-Gaurikund has been opened only for walking, the movement of vehicles is still closed here. Until this route is completely opened for vehicles, devotees will have to reach Kedarnath Dham by doing a difficult journey of about 22 kilometers on foot from Sonprayag itself.

Along with this, the administration has also issued a warning for the travelers. According to the SP, if it rains again in the area, the journey will be temporarily stopped again keeping safety in mind. The administration has appealed to all the devotees to take information about the weather department forecast before planning their journey.

Let us tell you that the Kedarnath Yatra was halted for the last several days due to landslides on the road between Sonprayag and Gaurikund. During this time, only the pilgrims returning from Kedarnath were being evacuated through alternative walking routes with the help of security forces.
