Jammu/Kishtwar (The Uttam Hindu): The ongoing encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district has taken a serious turn. The country lost one of its brave soldiers in the fierce gunfight in the Singhpora area on Sunday, while seven others were injured. The injured soldiers were immediately admitted to hospital for treatment, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Following this martyrdom, security forces have intensified their operations and have surrounded the Pakistan-backed terrorists from all sides.

After a night's halt, the search operation resumed in the morning

Officials said the operation was launched on Sunday following information about a terrorist hideout in Sonar village near Mandral-Singhpora in the Chatru belt. The terrain is extremely challenging. Dense vegetation and steep slopes made visibility extremely low, forcing the operation to be temporarily suspended late Sunday night. With the first rays of the sun on Monday morning, security forces resumed the search operation.

Drones and sniffer dogs are conducting thorough searches

Joint teams of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary forces are carrying out this operation. High-tech drones and sniffer dogs are being used to locate the terrorists hiding in the dense forests. Security forces have established a tight security cordon around the area to ensure that the terrorists cannot escape.

Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists feared trapped

According to officials, a group of two to three terrorists affiliated with the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) is believed to be trapped in the area. While there has been no new contact with the terrorists since the operation resumed Monday morning, the army remains on a tight vigil. Security forces are working to ensure that the terrorists do not manage to escape by breaking through the cordon.
