Kolkata's Shame Continues: Law Student Gang-Raped in Another Horrific Incident
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): An incident of gang rape of a student has come to light in South Kolkata Law College. It is being told that this incident happened with the student in her college campus itself. Police have arrested three people in this case.
Investigation has revealed that the girl who was gang-raped was studying law. According to the police, the incident took place on June 25. An FIR was lodged on the complaint of the victim at the Kasba police station and on the basis of that, the police took action and arrested the three accused. Those arrested include a former student and staff member of the college, as well as students currently studying there. Police said that after receiving the complaint, the victim was given a preliminary medical examination, witness statements were recorded and the spot was visited. The college campus has been sealed for now so that forensic investigation can be done. Two of the three accused were arrested from in front of Siddharth Shankar Sishu Roy Udyan near Talbagan Crossing, while the third accused was detained from his residence. The police have also seized the mobile phones of the three so that digital evidence can be examined.
Let us tell you that last year also a student was raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College. In that case, the police had arrested the main accused. Later, the accused Sanjay Roy was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Sealdah Court.
