Kota-Bundi to Get New Airport; Modi Govt Approves Rs 1507 Crore Project
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Giving a big gift to Rajasthan, the Modi government at the Center has given the green signal to the construction of a new Greenfield Airport in Kota-Bundi. This important proposal costing Rs 1507 crore was approved in the Union Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The construction of this airport has been targeted to be completed within two years.
Giving information about the cabinet decisions, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Kota is a major educational and industrial center of the country, where students and academicians from all over the country come. He said, "There was a long-standing demand for a modern and large airport in Kota. The existing airport is almost in the middle of the city and is quite small, so now a new airport will be built."
The Union Minister said that the new airport will be built on the Kota-Deoli bypass, for which the Rajasthan government will provide 1089 acres of land free of cost. The runway of this airport will be 3200 meters long and the terminal building will be expanded to 20 thousand square meters.
According to Ashwini Vaishnav, this new airport will have the capacity to provide air facility to 20 lakh passengers annually, which will revolutionize the connectivity of Kota and Bundi region. He said that the land for the airport has been identified and its construction work will start immediately. This project is also expected to give a big boost to economic development and tourism in the region.
