Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): The troubles of TMC leader Madan Mitra, who is surrounded by controversial statement on Kolkata Law College gang rape case, do not seem to end. TMC issued a show cause notice to Madan Mitra and said that his statement is against the party's strict stand.

West Bengal Trinamool Congress president Subrata Bakshi said, "A very heinous and extremely sad incident has happened with a law student in Kolkata city. The top leadership of the party has expressed grief over this extremely sensitive incident of tragic and brutal torture and has strongly condemned the incident. The administration is taking necessary action and the culprits have been promptly identified and arrested."

Subrata Bakshi, while issuing a show cause notice to Madan Mitra, further said, "The inappropriate, unnecessary and insensitive statement made by you (Madan Mitra) on 28 June 2025 in this matter is seriously damaging the image of the party. Also, this statement of yours is against the strict stand of the party. You are directed to give reasons within the next three days for this behavior of violating party discipline."

Let us tell you that TMC leader Madan Mitra had made controversial remarks on the alleged rape of a law student in a college campus in Kolkata.

Mitra claimed in her statement that the rape incident has given a message to all girls that they should not go to college when the colleges are closed.

However, the party condemned Madan Mitra's statement and said, "These views do not in any way reflect the party's position. Our stand is firm. We have zero tolerance towards crimes against women and we demand the strictest punishment for all those involved in this heinous crime."
