Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde's X Account Hacked Ahead of India-Pakistan Asia Cup Match

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): In a major development, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's official "X" (formerly Twitter) account was briefly compromised by hackers on Sunday. The incident occurred on the day of the Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan, further heightening the sensitivity of the issue.

Hackers not only took control of Chief Minister Shinde's account, but also posted images of the Pakistani and Turkish flags from it. A live stream was also started from the account, causing panic among officials and cybersecurity teams.

An official providing information on the matter said, "As soon as we learned of the account hacking, the matter was immediately reported to the cybercrime police." He further stated that the team managing the Chief Minister's 'X' handle acted swiftly and successfully recovered the account and removed the objectionable posts. The cybercrime police are currently investigating the hacking incident to determine where and who carried out the attack.
