Major breakthrough in Manipur: Security forces nab 4 militants of banned outfits
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces have achieved a major success in Manipur. Four militants, including the self-styled chief of the banned Kuki organization Chin Kuki Mizo Army (CKMA), have been arrested here. Police gave this information on Thursday. According to the information, security forces detained Paokholen Guite, the self-styled commander-in-chief of Chin Kuki Mizo Army, from S Munuam area of Churachandpur district of Manipur on Wednesday. Guite is accused of being involved in smuggling of arms and drugs from across the India-Myanmar border.
Security forces achieve major success in Manipur, four militants of banned organizations arrested: During the arrest, two AK-47 rifles, 181 rounds of different types of cartridges, Rs 1 lakh in cash and a car were recovered from him. According to security agencies, Guite was active in illegal activities in the border areas. Apart from this, two cadres of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) were arrested from two different places in Imphal West district on Thursday. Both these militants were involved in extortion from brick kiln owners and common citizens in the valley areas.
In a similar sequence, another PLA member was arrested on Wednesday from the Yairipok area of Thoubal district. According to police, he was involved in activities such as extortion and threats against mine workers. It is worth noting that in September, PLA militants ambushed an Assam Rifles convoy in the Nambol Sabal Leikai area of Manipur's Bishnupur district, killing two soldiers. These actions by the security forces are considered crucial in restoring peace in Manipur.
