Major terror plot foiled, 6 suspects linked to ISI and Bangladeshi groups arrested from Tamil Nadu
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Delhi Police has uncovered a major terror conspiracy by arresting six suspects from Tamil Nadu who were allegedly planning attacks in India with support from Pakistan’s intelligence agency and Bangladeshi extremist groups. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Shabat, Umar, Mohammad Liton, Mohammad Shahid and Mohammad Ujjwal. Investigations indicate that they were involved in activities considered a threat to national security.
Police said the accused were living in Tamil Nadu under fake identities and had obtained forged Aadhaar cards to avoid detection. They were working in textile units while posing as local workers. Acting on specific intelligence, raids were conducted in Uthukuli, Palladam and Tirumuruganpoondi areas, leading to their arrest.
According to investigators, the suspects were active on social media and allegedly shared content supporting extremist groups. They are also suspected of conducting reconnaissance in several cities and may have provided logistical support for potential attacks. Their suspected role in putting up “Free Kashmir” posters in Delhi is also being examined.
During the operation, police seized eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards believed to have been used to communicate with handlers. The devices will undergo forensic analysis to gather further evidence. A special team is bringing the accused to Delhi for detailed questioning as the investigation continues.
