Mamata Banerjee warns, “If the BJP tries to strike me in Bengal, I will shake its foundation across India”; vows to resist SIR
Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu) : West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on both the Election Commission and the BJP at a large public rally in Bongaon. She alleged that the Election Commission is no longer a neutral body but has become a “BJP Commission.”
Mamata expressed her displeasure over the recently implemented SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process, calling it an "attack on democratic rights" and saying that this move would prove to be a "disaster" for future voters. Also, unhappy with the SIR process, Mamata issued an open warning to the BJP and directly threatened to shake its foundations across India. Didi wrote a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding immediate intervention on two recent election-related directives.
Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the SIR process and the BJP. She said that when the draft voter list is released after the SIR, people will realize the "disaster" created by the Election Commission and the BJP. Mamata Banerjee said the BJP cannot compete with or defeat her politically, saying, "If the BJP tries to hurt me in Bengal, I will shake its foundations across India."
CM Mamata Banerjee also claimed that the result of Bihar election is the result of SIR, and the opposition could not understand the move of BJP there. She also reiterated that if SIR is done in two-three years, then her government will support this process with all possible resources. At the same time, BJP has also retaliated to Mamata Banerjee's challenge. BJP President in Bengal Samik Bhattacharya said that SIR has to be done in the whole of India. It is going on in 12 states but why is Mamata making so much noise in Bengal. The reason is that Mamata wants to conduct elections on the basis of the existing voter list, which is not possible now. The name of a woman is there in eight places in West Bengal.
CM Mamata Banerjee wrote to CEC Gyanesh Kumar, seeking his immediate intervention in two recent issues. Sharing the letter on her "X" account, she wondered if these matters were being raised to help a political party.
