'Modi Receives Cyprus’ Top Civilian Award as Global Accolades from 20+ Countries Continue
Nicosia (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Cyprus' highest civilian award on Monday. Indian Prime Minister Modi has been awarded the 'Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III' by Cyprus President, Nicos Christodoulides.
PM Modi dedicated Cyprus' highest civilian award to the people of the country. He said, "I congratulate you (President of Cyprus), the Government of Cyprus and the people of Cyprus for the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III. This honour is not only my honour, it is the honour of 140 crore Indians. It is an honour for their strength and aspirations. It is an honour for the cultural brotherhood of our country and the ideology of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam". I dedicate this award to the important relations between India and Cyprus, to our shared values. On behalf of all Indians, I accept this honour with utmost humility and gratitude."
PM Modi further said that this honour is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to peace, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and prosperity of our people. I consider this honour a responsibility towards the relations between India and Cyprus and I accept it in that spirit.
He said that I am confident that our active partnership will touch new heights in the times to come. Together we will not only strengthen the development of our countries, but will also contribute together to building a peaceful and secure global environment.
On receiving Cyprus' highest honour, PM Modi wrote on social media platform X, "I am very happy to receive the honour of Cyprus' 'Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III'. I dedicate it to the friendship between our countries."
Earlier, Sri Lanka had conferred the country's highest honour 'Mitra Vibhushan' on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had given him this honour. For his leadership at the regional and global level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honoured with the highest national awards of more than 20 countries since 2014, including the United Nations' highest environmental award.
