Bijapur Encounter: 4 Naxalites with ₹17 Lakh Bounty Killed, Arms Cache Recovered
Bijapur (The Uttam Hindu): Special Police Force (DRG) has achieved a big success in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. DRG killed four Naxalites during an encounter. These Naxalites include three top Naxalites of ACM level of South Sub Zonal Bureau and one party member. This encounter took place during a search operation conducted by DRG team of Bijapur.
According to police officials, the slain Naxalites have been identified as Hunga, Lakhhe, Bhima and Nihal alias Rahul. A reward of Rs 5 lakh each was announced on Naxalites Bhima, Hunga and Lakhhe. A reward of Rs 2 lakh was announced on Nihal alias Rahul. The encounter took place on the evening of July 26, when the police received credible information about the activities of Naxalites in the area. According to Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav, the DRG Bijapur team had launched a search operation based on credible information about the activities of Maoist cadres in the south-west region of the district. During this time, the Naxalites opened fire on the DRG team. After this, intermittent encounters between the police force and the Naxalites continued for a long time. Four Naxalites of the South Sub Zonal Bureau were killed in this encounter. SLR, INSAS, .303 rifle, BGL launcher, single shot rifle, large quantity of ammunition, grenades and other Naxal material have been recovered from the spot.
Inspector General of Police Bastar Range Sundarraj said that under the campaign being run by the security forces, a total of 425 hardcore Naxalites have been killed since the year 2024. Intensive and continuous operations are being conducted by the security forces against the banned and illegal Maoist organization in Bastar division. He said that despite the difficult monsoon conditions, inaccessible forests and risky roads, the morale of the security forces is high and they are continuously making decisive progress against the Naxalite organization.
