Nightmare journey: Drunk co-passenger hurls woman from speeding train
Thiruvananthapuram (The Uttam Hindu) – A 19-year-old woman was thrown from a moving train in Kerala. She was seriously injured and admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The accused also attacked her friend, but she escaped by holding on to the door. Police have arrested the accused, who was in an intoxicated state.
The incident occurred on Sunday night when the Kerala Express train traveling from Aluva to Thiruvananthapuram, approached the Ayanti Bridge between Varkala and Kadakkavoor stations. The 19-year-old woman, a resident of Palode was exiting the toilet when Suresh Kumar (48), a resident of Panchamoodu suddenly pushed her. The victim fell off the train and suffered serious head and stomach injuries. She was traveling with her friend. The accused, Suresh Kumar, also attacked her friend and tried to push her out but she held on tightly to the train door. Other passengers reacted quickly and pulled Archana out, rescuing her. The passengers immediately informed the railway police.
Thampanoor Railway Police acted swiftly and detained Suresh Kumar, a passenger on the train. According to police, Suresh Kumar was drunk and behaving abnormally. He confessed to the crime during interrogation. He will be produced in court on Monday, where a case will be filed under sections of attempt to murder and other charges. Meanwhile, the victim was discovered on the tracks by locals and railway personnel shortly after falling from the train. He was taken to a private hospital in Varkala in critical condition and, after receiving first aid, was referred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. According to doctors, Sonu suffered a severe head injury and internal damage to his abdomen, but his condition is currently stable and the situation is over.
