On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day on January 26, the district administration has imposed a one-day complete ban on the sale of meat, fish, and eggs across the entire district. The order has been issued by Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan to maintain the dignity and sanctity of the national festival.
Strict instructions issued to officials
To ensure effective implementation of the ban, District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan has sent written instructions to all tehsildars, block development officers (BDOs), and executive officers. The officials have been directed to issue formal notifications within their respective jurisdictions. The administration aims to ensure that no non-vegetarian food items are sold openly anywhere in the district on Republic Day.
Step taken to maintain peace and discipline
The official letter clearly states that the decision has been taken to maintain peace, discipline, and a respectful atmosphere during the national celebration. As per the order, all shops selling meat, chicken, fish, eggs, or any other non-vegetarian food items will remain closed on January 26. The administration has clarified that the restriction applies strictly to sales and will be enforced firmly.
Markets to remain closed for one day
The ban will be uniformly applicable in both urban and rural areas of Koraput district. As a result, all meat sellers and fish markets will remain closed on January 26. However, the restriction is limited to one day only, and the sale of non-vegetarian items will resume normally from the next day. The district administration has appealed to traders and the general public for cooperation to ensure a peaceful and dignified Republic Day celebration. Meanwhile, news of the ban has prompted non-veg lovers to make advance arrangements.
