Opposition Erupts Over Voter Verification; Rahul, Priyanka Detained, Akhilesh Breaks Barricades

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): There is a fight from the streets to the Parliament on Bihar SIR and vote theft. The 'India' block is demonstrating its strength today against the irregularities in the voter list and alleged rigging in the elections in Bihar. More than 300 MPs from 25 opposition parties are marching from the Parliament to the Election Commission headquarters on Monday. The protest of opposition MPs was stopped outside the Parliament itself. Many MPs including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have been taken into custody.

Akhilesh Yadav climbed and jumped over the barricades.

When Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was stopped during the protest, he jumped over the police barricades. Seeing him, some other MPs also tried to jump over the barricades.

TMC MP Mitali's health deteriorated during the march

TMC MP Mitali Bagh's health deteriorated and she fainted during the opposition's protest. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and others were seen helping in the Lok Sabha.

Priyanka said- the government is coward, Rahul said we want a clean voter list

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said that the government is scared. The government is coward. Delhi Police has detained India Block MPs including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sanjay Raut and Sagarika Ghosh. They were protesting against SIR and were marching from Parliament to the Election Commission.

Delhi Joint Commissioner of Police Deepak Purohit said, "The detained India Block leaders have been taken to Sansad Marg police station. We are still counting the number of MPs detained. There was no permission for the protest here, but we had received information. If they decide, we will escort them to the Election Commission office. There is proper police arrangement at the Election Commission."
