Pakistani Accounts Share AI-Generated Video of President Murmu, PIB Fact Check Exposes Fake Propaganda
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The PIB Fact Check unit on Wednesday flagged an AI-generated video of President Droupadi Murmu, exposing a Pakistani propaganda campaign spreading false claims on social media. Several Pakistani accounts had alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was using President Murmu to promote Rafale fighter jets.
In a post on social media platform ‘X’, PIB Fact Check clarified: “Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating an AI-generated video of President Droupadi Murmu with false claims that PM Narendra Modi is using her to promote Rafale aircraft.”
The AI-generated video features a fake voice mimicking President Murmu, falsely claiming that the Modi government was “blackmailing” her to take part in Rafale-related promotions.
The fabricated clip falsely states: “I appeal to the citizens that the Modi government blackmailed me and forced me to sit in the Rafale jet. If anything happens to me, PM Modi will be responsible.”
PIB Fact Check completely dismissed the claims, stating that the President never made any such statement. The agency warned that the video was artificially created using AI tools with the intention to mislead the public.
The fact-checking unit also shared a link to the original, unedited video and urged users to report such misinformation through official channels.
This is not the first instance of PIB detecting AI-generated misinformation. Earlier on Monday, the agency had cautioned users about a doctored AI video of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which falsely promoted an “investment program” promising ₹60,000 in 24 hours and ₹10 lakh monthly returns.
PIB urged citizens to stay alert, avoid get-rich-quick scams, and verify all claims before sharing or investing. It reiterated: “Stay cautious. Stay informed. Verify before you share.”
