New Delhi(The Uttam Hindu): In a dramatic session of the Lok Sabha on Monday, the Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025 and the Income Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025 were passed by voice vote despite intense protests from opposition members.

The proceedings, which had been adjourned twice earlier in the day, resumed at 4 PM with Presiding Officer Sandhya Rai inviting Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to move the motion for passing the taxation amendment bill. Without any discussion, the bill was swiftly passed, even as opposition MPs accused the ruling party of “stealing votes” in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Amid continued uproar, Rai then called upon the Finance Minister to present the motion for the Income Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, which was also passed in the same manner — without debate. Following the approval of both bills, the House was adjourned until 11 AM on Tuesday.
