Patna(The Uttam Hindu):  A senior Congress leader has sparked controversy with remarks directed at the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister during a press conference. The leader alleged that the Home Minister holds secret meetings with officials during his visits to Patna, claiming that CCTV cameras installed in hotel elevators are covered with paper during these visits. He questioned the purpose of such alleged secrecy and suggested that it compromised security.

Addressing the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress representative predicted that the Grand Alliance would win 72 of the 121 seats in the first phase, asserting that their strike rate would be significantly better this time.

Reacting to the Prime Minister’s earlier “katta” (pistol) comment, the leader made a controversial statement suggesting that Nitish Kumar should metaphorically “put a gun to the PM’s temple” to be declared the chief ministerial face. The comment has stirred political tension in Bihar.

He further alleged irregularities in voter lists, claiming that individuals who had been voting for generations were removed during the first phase of polling. He accused the ruling party and the Election Commission of colluding to manipulate votes, citing a similar situation in Haryana.

The first phase of voting in Bihar recorded a historic turnout of 65.08 percent — the highest in the state’s electoral history. The second phase, covering 122 seats, will be held on November 11, and results will be announced on November 14.
