New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Under this installment, more than ₹18,640 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of over 93 million farmer families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of ₹2,000 in each installment, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi released this installment from Guwahati, Assam. According to the government, approximately 9.32 crore farmer families have benefited from this scheme this time. This amount has been transferred directly to the farmers' accounts to help them meet their farming and domestic needs. The objective of the PM-KISAN scheme is to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. Under this scheme, farmers are given a total assistance of Rs 6,000 every year, which is transferred directly to their bank accounts in three equal installments. The government believes that this timely payment helps farmers meet their agricultural needs like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other agricultural needs.
After the installment is released, the government sends a message to the farmer's registered mobile number. In addition, a transaction-related message is also received from the bank. Farmers can easily check whether the 22nd installment has reached their account through the message received on their mobile. If the amount does not reach an eligible farmer's account, they can contact the scheme's helpline number. Farmers can register their problem by calling 155261 or 011-24300606. This helpline service is available on weekdays from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
It is noteworthy that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was launched on February 24, 2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme from Gorakhpur. Since then, the scheme has been providing financial assistance to millions of farmers across the country. In this regard, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently stated that since the scheme's launch in February 2019, more than ₹4.09 lakh crore has been directly transferred to farmers' accounts. After the release of the 22nd installment, this total will increase to over ₹4.27 lakh crore.
He also stated that this installment will provide financial assistance to over 21.5 million women farmers. According to him, this initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is bringing about lasting and positive change in the agricultural sector by providing direct income support to small and marginal farmers. The government believes that regular financial assistance strengthens farmers' financial position and makes it easier to meet their farming needs in a timely manner.
