Prime minister Modi pays tribute to ‘Bharat Ratna’ Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary, says he is a source of inspiration

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Bihar Chief Minister and ‘Bharat Ratna’ Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary. The Prime Minister said that Karpoori Thakur will always be remembered and followed for his simplicity and lifelong dedication to public service.

Posting on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi wrote that Karpoori Thakur’s politics always focused on the upliftment of the exploited, deprived and weaker sections of society. He added that Thakur’s simple lifestyle and commitment to serving the people make him a lasting inspiration.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also shared a short excerpt from one of his speeches. In it, he said that Karpoori Thakur was widely known for his simplicity and honesty, and that his entire life was devoted to social justice and the welfare of the marginalized. PM Modi described him as a precious jewel of the nation and said it was an honour for the current government to confer him with the Bharat Ratna.

The Prime Minister further stated that the BJP government considers Karpoori Thakur a guiding force, and continues to move forward with the resolve of prioritising the deprived, empowering the backward classes and serving the poor.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered Karpoori Thakur on his birth anniversary. In his post on X, Shah said that by introducing reservation for backward, women and economically weaker sections, Karpoori Thakur set exemplary standards of social justice.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also paid tribute, saying that Karpoori Thakur’s struggle for social justice, equality and public welfare will remain a constant source of inspiration.
