Red fort blast: Photo of suspected bomber Dr. Umar Nabi, surfaces
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Omar Mohammad, the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist who carried out the suicide car bombing near Delhi's Red Fort, has now been seen in new CCTV footage dressed as a doctor. The image, taken just hours before the blast, is from a mobile shop in Faridabad, Haryana, where Omar is seen walking around with two mobile phones, looking like a normal customer.
The terrorist, wearing a doctor's coat, was the driver of the same white Hyundai i20 car that was shattered in the explosion near the Red Fort red light. Omar was killed on the spot in the blast.
'White-collar' module busted in Faridabad
Investigating agencies have busted a 'white-collar' terrorist module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed in Faridabad. Footage that emerged during the investigation showed Umar carrying two mobile phones, while no phone was recovered from the blast site, raising new doubts about his network and the conspiracy. Agencies suspect that the doctor's disguise was used to conceal terrorist activities and facilitate easy movement. Several other suspects linked to his module are currently being interrogated.
Terrorist Umar Mohammad was born in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, in 1989. He was a doctor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, and is now under investigation on terrorism charges along with several other doctors.
Using CCTV footage, police traced her entire route to Chandni Chowk in Delhi on November 10. DNA testing confirmed her identity.
Terrorist Mohammed Al Falah, who was working at the university, had purchased the i20 car from a dealer in the city on October 29. He took it out for a pollution check the same day and then parked it there for the next 12 days.
