Satara (The Uttam Hindu): The case of a female doctor's suicide in Satara, Maharashtra, has taken a shocking new turn. A woman has made a sensational claim that the deceased doctor was pressured to prepare a false post-mortem report on her daughter. The woman, Bhagyashree Maruti Panchangane, has alleged that her daughter was murdered by her in-laws, but the doctor was pressured to report it as a "natural death."

Bhagyashree said she had married her daughter, Deepali, to Ajinkya Hanmant Nimbalkar, an army officer. She alleges that her daughter was constantly harassed and beaten at her in-laws' home. On August 19th, she received a call from Ajinkya informing her that Deepali was hospitalized, but when they arrived, she had died. Her in-laws reported that she had committed suicide.

Bhagyashree insisted that it was not suicide, but murder. She said, "Deepali was pregnant and had a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Under no circumstances could she have committed suicide."

She claimed that Ajinkya's family, using their political influence and connections with the police, forcibly altered the post-mortem report. According to Bhagyashree, the post-mortem report, which was submitted to her a month after the incident, stated the cause of death as natural. The woman has now demanded a proper investigation into the entire incident.

It is noteworthy that in the case of suicide of a doctor working in Satara District Hospital, the police have registered a case against a sub-inspector Gopal Badne and the landlord's son Prashant Bankar and arrested them.

The doctor had also written a suicide note on his palm. Furthermore, the four-page suicide note found with him also named a former Member of Parliament. The victim alleged that two associates of the former Member of Parliament were pressuring her to prepare a false medical report.

A relative of the doctor had previously claimed that he was frequently pressured to prepare false medical and postmortem reports. It is alleged that political figures in Phaltan or the police often asked him to tamper with the reports. The doctor had also complained about this to the local police station several times, but no action was taken. Now, Bhagyashree's claims have further complicated the matter.
