Supreme Court slams state governments over stray dog menace, issues ultimatum
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – The Supreme Court has taken a tough stand on the increasing number of stray dogs. The court has ordered the chief secretaries of all states to appear in person on November 3rd.
The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the failure of state and union territory governments to file affidavits. The court stated that such incidents are occurring continuously, tarnishing the country's image even abroad. Yet, the states have not filed compliance affidavits. The court has summoned the chief secretaries of the states. The summoning date is November 3rd. The court stated that as per the August 22nd order, only three compliance affidavits have been filed, including those from West Bengal, Telangana, and the MCD. "Since our order has not been followed, they must appear, as they have not filed compliance affidavits even after three months," it said. "They should come and explain. They were supposed to file affidavits, but they did not."
