Supreme Court May Reconsider Order to Remove Stray Dogs from Delhi-NCR, CGI to Review Decision
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Supreme Court's order to remove all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR may be reviewed. Chief Justice B.R. Gavai today assured to reconsider the ban on the entry of stray dogs on the streets of Delhi-NCR. The Chief Justice made this remark while hearing a petition filed by a senior advocate.
The petitioner also presented a petition of the Conference for Human Rights (India) before the court, which claimed that the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules, 2001, which make regular sterilization and vaccination programs mandatory to reduce the growing population of stray dogs, are not being followed. In fact, just a few days ago, the court had given an ultimatum of 8 weeks to the administration to remove stray dogs. After this order of the court, many people opposed it and many people came out in support.
