Terror Alert in Kathua: Three Suspected Terrorists Spotted, Search Operation Underway
Kathua (The Uttam Hindu): The presence of suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district on Monday has once again raised concerns of security agencies. After a civilian spotted three suspicious persons in Hiranagar area, the security forces took immediate action and launched a huge search operation in the entire area. This operation is still going on and the army personnel and the special operations group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police are jointly participating in it.
According to top officials of the security forces, the entire area was cordoned off immediately after receiving information about suspicious activity in the border villages of Hiranagar. Latest techniques and equipment are being used in the search operation to avert any potential threat. Officials said that people living in the surrounding areas are also being questioned to identify the suspects and find out their intentions.
Kathua district, which is part of the Jammu region, has faced infiltration attempts by terrorists in the past. Being close to the border, the area is known to be a potential route for terrorists to enter India. In recent years, security forces have further increased their surveillance and patrolling in the area, resulting in the thwarting of several potential attacks.
Today's incident has happened at a time when security agencies are already on high alert in border areas. According to information received from intelligence sources, terrorist groups are planning to infiltrate and in such a situation, sighting of suspects is a big challenge for the security forces.
Security forces have also increased vigilance in Hiranagar area and the national highway connected to it. Vehicles are being thoroughly searched and suspicious activities are being closely monitored. Local people have also been appealed to immediately inform the security forces if they see any suspicious person or activity.
