Kishtwar (The Uttam Hindu): A search operation by security forces in the Keshwan area of ​​Kishtwar district in the Jammu division on Sunday afternoon turned into a gunfight when terrorists suddenly opened fire on the troops. Security forces retaliated, prompting the terrorists to flee the scene.

According to sources, a massive search operation was launched in the area after the firing stopped. Top army and police officials are monitoring the situation. Additional forces have been sent to the encounter site, and the search for the terrorists is continuing with the help of drones.

SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh said that the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, although there were no casualties. Terrorists are believed to be hiding in the Keshwan and Chatru areas of Nagseni in Kishtwar, and they have previously attacked security forces. Meanwhile, a search operation is underway in the Seojdhar forest in Udhampur. One soldier was martyred in an encounter there on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the police, army, and CRPF achieved a major success in Handwara. In a joint operation, security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from a hideout. These included a Turkish-made 9mm pistol with two magazines, two Chinese 7.62mm pistols with two magazines and 14 rounds, eight Chinese hand grenades, and an AK-40 magazine and 40 rounds.
