Three Killed, Five Injured as Speeding Defender Car Rams Five Vehicles; Angry Mob Vandalizes Owner’s House

Bemetara (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic accident shook Bemetara city in Chhattisgarh on Sunday when a speeding Defender car caused massive destruction on the road, ramming into five vehicles one after another. The horrific crash killed three people and left five others seriously injured. Following the incident, angry locals stormed the car owner’s house and carried out extensive vandalism.

The Accident: Defender Loses Control, Hits Five Vehicles

Eyewitnesses said the Defender was speeding recklessly through the city when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crushing everything in its path. The SUV hit five vehicles in total, including a pickup truck, a motorcycle, and a scooter. The impact was so severe that one youth in the pickup died on the spot.

Casualties and Injuries

The scene turned chaotic as bystanders rushed to help the victims. Seven injured people were immediately taken to the district hospital, where two more succumbed to injuries during treatment. Five others are currently under medical care.

Public Outrage and Violence

Enraged by the incident, hundreds of residents gathered outside the car owner’s home, chanting slogans and demanding justice. The situation escalated when the crowd broke into the house and vandalized property. According to reports, the vehicle owner has been identified as Bunty Malak Singh, a local textile businessman.

Police Intervention and Investigation

As tension rose, Bemetara SSP Ramkrishna Sahu reached the spot with additional police forces to control the situation. He assured the public of strict action against those responsible, after which the crowd dispersed.

In a statement, SSP Ramkrishna Sahu confirmed that the car owner has been detained and is being interrogated. He said, “It is still unclear who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. We are collecting information from locals, and anyone found guilty will face strict legal action.”
