Kupwara (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces in North Kashmir’s Machil sector successfully foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed, while a search operation in the area is still underway.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Kumkadi area of the Machil sector. Around 7 PM, soldiers patrolling the LoC noticed a group of armed terrorists attempting to infiltrate from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) into Indian territory.

The troops immediately alerted nearby posts and took defensive positions. As soon as the infiltrators tried to cross the border, the army challenged them. In response, the terrorists opened fire on the soldiers, who retaliated strongly.

Sources said that the exchange of fire between the two sides continued intermittently for about 40 minutes. After the firing stopped from the terrorists’ side, the troops ceased their operation and began a thorough search of the area. The search operation continued late into the night to ensure no other infiltrators were hiding nearby.
