Union Budget lays strong foundation for developed India, says Naresh Bansal
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): BJP National Co-Treasurer and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Naresh Bansal has termed the Union Budget 2026–27, presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, as robust and people-centric, stating that it will help realise the vision of a “Developed India”.
Dr. Bansal described the budget as historic, noting that it is the first Union Budget to be presented on a Sunday and marks Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s ninth consecutive budget. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NDA government has successfully ensured economic growth while keeping inflation under control.
He informed that the total size of the budget stands at ₹53.5 lakh crore. The government has achieved its fiscal discipline targets and aims to reduce the fiscal deficit to 4.3 per cent of GDP in the financial year 2026–27.
According to Dr. Bansal, the budget places strong emphasis on the welfare of the poor, farmers, youth and women. Significant provisions have been made for key sectors such as education, healthcare, housing, employment generation, rural development, startups and the promotion of small industries.
He added that despite global economic challenges, India continues to progress rapidly under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Dr. Bansal expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and the Union Cabinet for presenting a development-oriented and forward-looking budget.
