New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is serving a life sentence in the Unnao rape case, has received a major setback from the Supreme Court. Hearing the CBI's appeal on Monday, the apex court stayed the bail granted by the Delhi High Court.

Immediately following the court decision, Kuldeep Sengar's daughter, Ishita Sengar, shared an emotional open letter on social media, expressing her grief. In her letter, Ishita described the threats her family has received and the struggle they have faced over the past eight years, pleading for justice.

Ishita Sengar wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that she was writing this letter as a daughter who was exhausted, scared, and slowly losing hope. She questioned the label of being "powerful," writing, "People call us 'powerful,' but what kind of power is it that leaves a family speechless for eight years?"

Ishita alleged that her identity has been reduced to just a label. She wrote, “Before I even hear my words, I am seen only as 'the daughter of a BJP MLA.' Over the years, I have been told countless times on social media that I should be raped, that I should be killed. This has now become a daily occurrence for me.”

In her letter, Ishita described the family's mental state, writing, "Our dignity has been stripped away piece by piece. Every day for eight years, we have been insulted, mocked, and treated like human beings. We are now completely exhausted, financially, emotionally, and physically."

Ishita concluded her letter by clarifying that she wasn't writing this to threaten anyone or garner sympathy. She wrote, "I'm writing because I'm very scared. I still believe that someone, somewhere, will care to listen to me. We're not asking for protection or any favors. We're asking for justice, simply because we're human.
