Uttarakhand Under Alert: 266 Roads Closed Amid Heavy Rain, Landslides
Chamoli (The Uttam Hindu) : Due to rain, landslides have occurred at many places in Uttarakhand. Due to continuous rain, more than 266 routes have been closed in the state. The Yamunotri Highway is blocked due to debris near Ranachatti, Syanachatti and Pali Gad. The Gangotri National Highway is blocked due to debris and stones near Dabrani.
59 roads including the Tawaghat-Ghatiyabagh-Lipulekh national highway are closed due to landslides after rain in the state. This includes 36 roads in rural areas. Debris has fallen near Malghat on the Tawaghat-Ghatiyabagh-Lipulekh national highway in Pithoragarh district. Two national highways (Pauri and Dehradun districts), seven state highways (Dehradun three, Pauri-Tehri one each, Nainital two), seven main district roads, two other district roads and 75 rural roads are included. PWD has deployed 514 machines at different places to open the closed roads.
