Vaishno Devi yatra suspended temporarily, Shrine Board takes major decision
Vaishno Devi pilgrimage temporarily suspended as Shrine Board takes precautionary decision citing safety and management concerns.
Katra (The Uttam Hindu) – The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has temporarily suspended pilgrimages to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple due to increasing crowds and persistent inclement weather. This decision has temporarily halted the movement of thousands of devotees.
According to officials, the Katra area has been experiencing continuous rain for the past three days, affecting road conditions and raising safety concerns. This step has been taken as a precautionary measure.
The Shrine Board decided to temporarily close all yatra registration centers until around 4 pm on Saturday. Around 41,000 pilgrims had already registered for the yatra, leading to heavy crowd pressure in the area.
The administration maintains that the safety of pilgrims is the top priority, and a decision on resuming the pilgrimage will be made only after weather conditions normalize and crowds are controlled. Pilgrims have been urged to follow the administration's instructions and refrain from unnecessarily traveling to the pilgrimage site.
