Devotees' Vehicle Falls into Canal on Way to Jalabhishek, 11 Drown; 9 Belonged to One Family

Gonda (The Uttam Hindu): 11 people died tragically in a horrific road accident in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning, while the condition of four people remains critical. Nine of the dead are said to be members of the same family. The accident happened when a speeding Bolero full of devotees went out of control and fell into the canal.

This tragic incident happened near Belwa Bahuta canal in Itiyathok police station area. According to the information, 15 people from Sihagaon of Motiganj police station area were travelling in a Bolero to perform Jalabhishek in the famous Prithvinath temple. On the way, their vehicle suddenly went out of control and fell straight into the canal. There was a lot of screaming as soon as the vehicle fell into the water.

After the incident, a huge crowd of local people gathered at the spot and relief and rescue work was started. As soon as the information was received, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan and Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal reached the spot with a heavy police force and NDRF team. The team immediately started the rescue operation and pulled everyone out of the water, but by then 11 people had died due to drowning.

The injured were immediately admitted to the hospital, where the condition of four is said to be critical. The death of nine members of the same family has caused mourning in the entire village. The police have taken the bodies into custody and sent them for postmortem and have started investigating the case.
