Washington Shooting: 2 Israeli Embassy Employees Killed Outside Jewish Museum
Washington (The Uttam Hindu): Two employees of the Israeli embassy have been killed in a shooting that took place outside a Jewish museum in Washington D.C., the capital of the United States. This tragic incident occurred while a program organized by the American Jewish Committee was ongoing inside the museum.
Following the incident, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force has launched an investigation. FBI Director Kash Patel stated, “We have been informed about the shooting that occurred outside the Jewish Museum in Washington. We are working in coordination with the Metropolitan Police Department. Our condolences go out to the victims and their families. We will share more information soon.”
Kristi Noem, the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, also responded to the incident, saying, “This is a serious and tragic event. Two Israeli embassy employees have been killed. We are actively investigating and will bring the perpetrators to justice. Our prayers are with the victims' families.”
Meanwhile, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, has termed the attack as a “terrorist act” against Jews. He said, “This attack is an attempt to intimidate and terrorize the Jewish community. We will not remain silent.”
Currently, the scene has been cordoned off, and security has been increased in the surrounding areas. Police are searching for the attacker and are investigating the motive behind the assault as well as the possible involvement of any organizations. This incident comes at a time when global concerns are rising about the security of Jewish communities and Israeli diplomatic premises.
