Domestic Horror: Man Stabs Wife Eight Times Over Money Demand, Mother-in-Law Exposes His 12 Affairs

Bhagalpur, Bihar (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case of domestic violence and attempted murder has emerged from Bhagalpur district, where a 27-year-old woman was brutally attacked by her husband allegedly for refusing to give him ₹5 lakh to start a gym. The victim, Sanjula Kumari, is currently in critical condition and battling for her life at Mayaganj Hospital.

The incident took place in Koilaghat locality under the jurisdiction of Jogsar Police Station. The accused, Premraj Yadav, who is reportedly employed with a government corporation, is alleged to have stabbed his wife eight times, following a violent confrontation. Family members also claim he is involved in at least 12 extramarital affairs and had plans to divorce and remarry.

A Family Torn by Greed and Violence

Sanjula and Premraj had been married for seven years and have two young children, aged five and four. According to the victim's mother, Manju Devi, their relationship had been strained for years due to Premraj’s repeated affairs. Family members say they possess photographic evidence of his involvement with other women.

On Thursday, tensions escalated after Premraj repeatedly called Sanjula home while she was picking up her children from school. Upon her return, she was reportedly verbally assaulted by her sister-in-law, Mamta Kumari. The situation turned violent when Premraj, along with his parents Ramchandra Yadav and Mukti Devi, allegedly locked her inside a room, beat her, attempted to strangle her, and then stabbed her multiple times.

Victim Collapses at Police Station

Despite sustaining severe injuries, Sanjula managed to call her mother, who arrived with her son Yuvraj. According to their statement, both were also attacked by Premraj’s family. The injured trio rushed to the nearby police station, where Sanjula collapsed from blood loss and trauma. She was immediately shifted to Mayaganj Hospital with police assistance.

Chilling Allegations and Financial Pressure

Manju Devi accused Premraj of demanding ₹5 lakh from Sanjula to fund a gym business. She further claimed that he had long neglected the children and was preparing to divorce Sanjula and marry another woman. “He has no concern for his wife or kids. He used to threaten her and frequently appeared in the company of other women,” she said.

Legal Action Underway

Police have registered a case and launched a full-scale investigation. The statements of the victim and her family have been recorded, and authorities are in the process of verifying the allegations, including the claims about multiple affairs and attempts to remarry.

The incident has sparked outrage locally, with residents demanding strict action and highlighting the need for stronger protections for women in cases of domestic abuse, coercion, and attempted murder.
